If you are curious about this 16-bit computer released in 1979, it is relatively easy to purchase one starting from US$50 (if you are in the US and Canada) but you can have a taste of it through emulators, which doesn’t take space and usually are free. 
Also, the community of enthusiasts dedicated to the TI-99 is very active on, for example, the Atariage Forum. I actually have two of them in my personal collection and it is a very interesting and capable computer. It is true we don’t talk much about the TI-99 here, but it is not because we think less of it.
